Don Stevens

Owner & President

More than 15 years ago, Don Stevens recognized a need to support education and non-profit boards in the key task of recruiting superintendents and CEOs for these organizations. He and two partners launched a specialized executive search firm, because they believe this profession deserves the unique skills he and his team offer.

Don taught English for three years and then served as a school counselor. He rapidly moved into administration, first serving as a principal and then serving as superintendent in three Wisconsin school districts before taking the CEO position with CESA 5, a position he held for 22 years. During his career with CESA 5, he also was appointed to a one-year term as the assistant state superintendent, Division for Reading and Student Achievement, for the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Don also has served on numerous Wisconsin committees and task forces, as well as two national association boards, the National Rural Education Association and the Association of Educational Service Agencies. For both associations, he was elected president of the executive boards and also served on their respective foundations. With more than 40 years of experience, Don specializes in strategic planning and has worked with schools and other organizations locally, statewide and nationally.

Don earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, his master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and completed additional graduate work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
